RDNS Institute

The process of continuous improvement does not happen by accident. It requires us to be curious, to seek evidence to innovate.

Since 1885, RDNS has been building on an understanding of people’s healthcare needs and translating these findings into compassionate care, delivered into the home.

Now, as our community faces the complex challenges of an ageing population and increased incidence of chronic disease, developing a deep understanding of community healthcare needs has never been more important.

The RDNS Institute is dedicated to the development of best practice in community nursing and healthcare through an ongoing and rigorous pursuit of research and investigation.

The RDNS Institute is at the forefront of innovation in aged care. Its clarity of purpose is reflected in a research program that targets core challenges such as dementia care, wound care and medicines management.

Today we can draw on the experience of over 2,500 nurses and care staff, observing and caring for over 15,000 clients each day, to help us ask better questions, which in turn leads to better outcomes.

Knowing that Australia is not the only nation dealing with complex health and aged care issues, the RDNS Institute has an international outlook. By sharing our expertise and research findings, we seek to make a global contribution to the provision of quality care for ageing people in the community.

Working with the support of state and federal governments, supported through the generosity of philanthropic trusts, and via collaboration with universities and other renowned research facilities, the RDNS Institute’s findings are informing the delivery of community-based care in Australia and internationally.
